Learn the basics of robotics and explore the Robot Operating System (ROS), a key tool for developing and running robotic systems. Build a set of skills that will let you design, create, and improve robotic systems.

Robotics is driving many exciting new developments. From automated manufacturing lines to autonomous vehicles, robots are changing industries and transforming how we live and work. But to bring these robots to life, there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes. Robotics requires a deep understanding of operating systems, programming, and precision in control mechanisms which are essential for creating reliable and responsive robots. Whether you’re interested in automation, healthcare, or any field where robotics can make a difference, this knowledge will be a valuable part of your journey.

What you will learn:
- Introduction to ROS
- ROS Communication such as ROS topic, ROS message and ROS action
- ROS tools such as Gazebo and Rviz with custom package
- Localization and mapping with ROS
- Robot navigation with ROS

Prerequisites:
This course is designed for everyone. No prior knowledge is required.

Course type:
This is a elective course (E) in the Master of Engineering program in Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (International Program) offered by Thammasat University and SkillLane.

Grading Criteria:
This course consists of 1) Quizzes, which account for 20% of the grade, and 2) Final Exam, which accounts for 80% of the grade. Grades will be assigned based on the following scheme:

A 90-100
A- 85-89.99
B+ 80-84.99
B 75-79.99
B- 70-74.99
C+ 65-69.99
C 60-64.99
D 50-59.99
F 0-49.99

Instructor Background:
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Photchara Ratsamee
Currently, Dr. Photchara holds a teaching position at Kansai University, Japan. He has academic expertise in various fields including Robotics, Automation, AI, Inspection, Human-Robot Interaction, Industrial inspection, Disaster response, Smart Argriculture and Healthcare robotics. 

Dr. Photchara completed his Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Thammasat University, Thailand, Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering, The University of Osaka, Japan, and Ph.D. in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering, The University of Osaka, Japan.
