This course will help you build a strong foundation in kinematics, so you’ll be ready to create advanced robotic systems that can handle complex environments and carry out detailed tasks.

Robotics has advanced rapidly to the point where machines can now perform tasks that once required only human skill. A key part of this progress is understanding kinematics and modeling, which help us figure out how robots move and interact with the world around them. As robots are used more and more in different industries, knowing how to plan their movement is essential. By learning about kinematics, you’ll be ready to create advanced robotic systems that can handle complex environments and carry out detailed tasks.

What you will learn:
- Introduction to Robotics Kinematics
- Rigid Body Abstraction
- Rotation Matrices and Euler Angles
- Axis-Angle Representation and Quaternions
- Rigid Motions and Homogeneous Transforms
- Forward and Inverse Kinematics
- Velocity Kinematics and Jacobian
- Mobile Robot Motion and Constraints
- Sensor/Actuator Characteristics

Prerequisites:
This course is designed for everyone. No prior knowledge is required.

Course type:
This is a elective course (E) in the Master of Engineering program in Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (International Program) offered by Thammasat University and SkillLane.

Grading Criteria:
This course consists of 1) Quizzes, which account for 50% of the grade, and 2) Final Exam, which accounts for 50% of the grade. Grades will be assigned based on the following scheme:

A 90-100
A- 85-89.99
B+ 80-84.99
B 75-79.99
B- 70-74.99
C+ 65-69.99
C 60-64.99
D 50-59.99
F 0-49.99

Instructor Background:
Asst.Prof.Dr. Wisanu Jitviriya
Currently, Dr. Wisanu holds a teaching position at Department of Production and Robotics Engineering, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok. He has academic expertise in various fields including Computer Interfacing, Basic Electrical Engineering, Principles of Mechanical Measurement and Metrology, Automatic Control Laboratory.

Dr. Wisanu completed his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, Thailand, Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, Thailand, and Ph.D. in Engineering at Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan.
